In his latest report, "Pentagon of the South: 2011 & 2012 Excavations at Fort Hawkins," Daniel T. Elliott along with co-authors Matthew Luke and Lisa D. O'Steen, The LAMAR Institute 2013, continues to reveal the "Real Fort Hawkins" from its historical importance during the War of 1812 to conclusively determining the exact dimensions of the fort including the long lost NW Blockhouse location, plus detailed artistic historic renderings recreate the real fort.
In his report, "Fort Hawkins 2005-2007 Excavations", Daniel T. Elliott of The LAMAR Institute, has done an exceptional job of researching not only what was left under the earth, but also what happened on the earth during the "life span of Fort Hawkins".
